10 Years of MSI: Community Impact

After 10 years, MSI Security has been fortunate to carry out its mission of providing peace of mind in the very communities it lives within. As stated by MSI Security founder and owner Jeffrey Nesbitt, “Our biggest priority is building relationships.” And this priority has been demonstrated time and time again.

Serving the Community

From its earliest days, MSI has served the relationships within its home communities, aiming to deliver vigilant security and unparalleled support to community members. Two of MSI’s longest standing clients stand as prime examples of this commitment.

KIWANIS BALLON FESTIVAL: For eight years, MSI has serviced the Kiwanis Balloon Festival—an annual family event hosted by the community-based non-profit SCI Kiwanis Club. Proceeds from the event fund their mission of serving children in the Bloomington community. These efforts include donations to Riley Children’s Hospital, Christmas toy programs, and local food drives. When facing budget constraints amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, MSI stepped up and provided its services to the event for free—and it has continued to do so for the last five years.

We are beyond grateful for everything [MSI] does for our event. They have gone above and beyond more than once. Thanks for the great job that you continue to do each and every year!

BLOOMINGTON PARKS: In 2020, the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department contracted MSI to help assist with its public parks, which occupy 500+ acres. In this same year, Bloomington’s homelessness rate per capita was the highest in the state of Indiana, with many of the individuals taking refuge in these public park areas. MSI’s mission here aims to not only to help parkgoers, but to provide a safety resource for all community members. To achieve this, MSI works with local organizations such as Bloomington’s BEACON Inc and the STRIDE center to ensure that individuals in need have access to valuable resources.

There have been incidents where MSI’s presence has helped someone in mental or physical distress. I have no doubt that lives have been saved.

This statement is no exaggeration. In one incident on June 7th, 2025, an MSI officer encountered an unconscious individual who was overdosing. Quick to act, the MSI officer administered multiple doses of NARCAN, a nasal spray that rapidly reverses opioid overdose. This bought enough time for emergency services to arrive on scene and continue life saving measures. Soon after, MSI was informed that the individual awoke in the hospital and would live.

These brief examples speak to the many incidents where MSI officers have made a direct impact on the community, establishing MSI’s role within the community. “In some cases, we are the first responders for first responders.” – Megan Bentley, CEO

From lifesaving CPR to removing hazardous materials from public areas to securing loose weaponry, MSI officers have established a standard of safety in numerous communities and provided support to first responders when called upon. This commitment to community safety drives the vision for what MSI will accomplish next.
